Take The Training Wheels Off: Let Him Play
Listen here Claude. I understand you want to handle your young franchise player very carefully, and you've done good with that so far. You've protected him and he's developing just fine. But here's the thing this team is poised to make a run NOW. You are getting outstanding goaltending, your players have showed that they can play with a lot of emotion, and arent afraid in the high pressure playoff type atmospheres. Tyler Seguin is a player, and he has learned more in this first half of his rookie season than at any other point of his life. Now its time to take what hes learned and put it to action. He has tremendous skill, speed, and ability to score. Traits this team needs to get where they want to go. If you look at Steven Stamkos in his rookie season he was handled with care in the first half, but down the stretch he turned into a super star scoring 19 points in the last 20 games. Now Stamkos is a top 5 player in the league. I'm not saying Seguin is Stamkos, but you have to let him go out there and experience the ups and downs of the NHL on a nightly basis. The pressure is on now Claude and if you don't play Seguin more, someone else will be coaching him next year.
