The Pats have placed the franchise tag on guard Logan Mankins. Mankins will earn $10.1 million next season if he signs the franchise tender. This is a move many saw coming but the question is does this just buy some time to negotiate a deal with the big fella or is this the last straw that will ultimately see him leave town (Cough Assante Samuel Cough) With all that is uncertain in the NFL next year the Pats ensure that they will have an All Pro as well as the enforcer at guard whenever football is played.
